Exaggerating Angles
The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal expansion of the Royal Ontario Museum was always controversial: a lot of people absolutely hated the look of this addition to a more traditional structure. From a photographic point of view though it offers a lot of possibilities. In this image (from the Open Streets event last weekend) I used my Voigtlander 15mm/4.5 SuperWide Heliar lens. This lens is among the wider in the 35mm format, and I like what it does with the already dramatic angles of this structure.

Back to the Atlas Coal Mine
I just seem to keep coming back to my images from this location! There was certainly a lot to shoot. 🙂 Both images were created with my Voigtlander Bessa R Rangefinder with 15mm/4.5 Super-Heliar lens, on Rollei RPX 25 film, developed in Rodinal.
Hidden Treasure
Of of the joys that is unique to film photography is developing a roll of film and being surprised at what was on it :-). Earier this week I developed a roll of 35mm Kentmere 400, expecting more Guelph or Alberta images, and it turned out to be a roll from out Scotland trip that I had overlooked. Taken with my Voigtlander Bessa R and 15mm/4.5 Extreme Wide-Angle Super -Heliar at the Edinburgh Castle, very happy with the sense of movement.

Badlands
This is another image taken during my recent trip to the Badlands in Alberta. It had rained the day before, so the textures of the rock and sand were smoothed and muted, but still alien and harsh in their own way.

At the Bridge
The railway bridge in Lethbridge, Alberta is quite iconic, and it was interesting to look at it through a gazebo-shaped look-out at the top of a hill.

Overcoming a Grey Day
Rollei Retro 80s is an amazing film! When we visited Armadale castle it was a very grey, soggy day, but the inherent contrastiness and bite of the Rollei Retro 80s film turned the light into something special. All images taken with Voigtlander R body, 15mm/4.5 Superwide Heliar lens.
