Another Image with the Kiev and Jupiter 12

In Taylor Creek Park there is a lot of interesting fallen wood, almost like driftwood writ large, but there is no lake or ocean around. This log has caught my eye on more than one occasion.

Do My Research

I recently got a Jupiter 12 35mm/2.8 lens. A copy of the classic pre-WW II Carl Zeiss Biogon I picked it up inexpensively planning to use it on my Contax IIIa body, but after I bought it I found out the lens was not compatible, so in order to use the lens I needed to get a Kiev body. The Kiev was a Ukrainian-built copy of the Contax body. but with the lens comparability.  Luckily Kiev bodies are not expensive either. Together they make an impressive combination; I love the look of this lens in this test roll I finished yesterday in Taylor Creek Park!!

The Walkway

Another image from the old railway station near Yonge/Summerhill in Toronto. I love what the 15mm lens does for scenes like this!

Lines and Curves

Still getting used to the Voigtlander Helios 15mm f4.5 Superwide angle lens, shot here with my 1930’s vintage Leica IIIa 35mm rangefinder body. I love what it does with the entrance an old train station (now a liquor store) near Yonge and Summerhill in Toronto, taken on a bitterly cold Saturday morning recently.

Commonplace

An abandoned shopping cart is not that uncommon a sight in a large city, but I liked what the combination of the morning sunshine and the extreme wide-angle perspective did to it.

Tree Stump

This image of a lonely tree stump was taken in  Taylor Creek Park, using a Voigtlander Bessa L 35mm camera and 15mm/4.5 Heliar super wide angle lens. I loved the textures at this spot!.

Bleak

In my mind, there aren’t many things as bleak as modern architecture on a cold day, a space normally full of people, empty except for one figure, back turned, anonymous.

Revisiting

I have shot this scene before (an alley in Toronto’s Kensington Market), but it has a very different look in black and white, with a very wide angle lens.
