Memory

I took this image on a recent walk downtown, and I don’t remember the location. There are days my memory (or lack thereof) just scares me …

Framing

I love this old railway bridge in the lower Don Valley here in Toronto. There has been a lot of rain this spring so there is lush vegetation everywhere, and I like the internal framing effect in this image.

The Beaches Through a Red Filter

Yes, I love the look of skies darkened by a red filter. To me it seems like a sense of stark drama is created, a hidden eeriness is revealed. These four images are from a recent trip down to The Beaches.

Mismatch

I was out in the Beaches last Sunday and snapped this image quickly before the motorcyclist could drive off, so I wasn’t looking closely at the background. When I scanned the negative and looked at the image I was amused by the mismatch of foreground and background.

A Lens I Haven’t Used Much

Today’s image was shot using a lens I tend not to use much, but should take out more often: my Leitz Elmar 90mm/f4. This is an old Leica screw mount lens that fits on my Voigtlander Bessa R2M via an adapter. It’s prone to flare but with a lens hood it’s pretty good.

Graffiti Alley in Colour

Another visit to Graffiti Alley in Toronto. A much sunnier day that the last time I was here! All images taken on Kodak Gold 200 C-41 colour film, with my Voigtlander Bessa R2M and 15mm/F4.5 Superwide Heliar lens.

The Filtered View

Last Saturday morning I was back in the Beaches area, near the R.H. Harris plant. I have shot there many times before, but this was the first time I took my new Voigtlander Superwide 15mm lens, and also the first time I shot Eastman Double-X black and white film with a read filter. Really happy with the results in these images!

My Favourite Trees

Back to my favourite trees in the city (in High Park), this time with my Voigtlander Bessa R2M and 15mm/f4.5 SuperWide Heliar lens.
