Lines

I was drawn to the pattern of lines and shapes, as emphasized by the low morning sun, and further emphasized by increasing the contrast of the final image.

  1. Wow! That one’s gallery worthy IMNSEO – hey, I may not know art but I know what I like 🙂

Seriously, though, the geometric precision of the perspective/foreshortening is hypnotic, especially with the boosted contrast making the lit edges of the frames pop out against the background.

Er, that probably sounds daft, but bottom line is this is a great shot!

  2. John, this is a very good shot, taken at a good angle for parallel vertical line emphasis. Go further and make the lines parallel. Again you’ve switched the image from colour into b&w and a b&w contrast problem emerges. I don’t know exactly what you are using to control contrast but the level is off a bit. The image looks “muddied.” I suppose this is still a digital image and not a hard copy. If this image was printed, you or your printer would play with the range of tones to make this a better shot. Good image to look at from the get go, so make it one of your best. Rod

    1. Thanks Rodney. This might be a monitor to monitor thing, and a final decision would need to be print-based; I played with the image quite a bit, then decided to reduce shadow detail to make the shapes a bit starker.

  3. Fantastic image. I love the geometries you’ve captured. I wonder what a similar image taken with a film camera would yield in terms of the tones.
