Revisiting a Negative

This image from an early winter morning at the shores of Lake Ontario in February 2014 is from a roll I scanned with my older scanner; I was not happy with how they looked, but recently I rescanned with my new scanner. Much happier now 🙂

Two Arches

It was a very bright day in downtown Toronto today, and the low midwinter sun made for start, dramatic lighting. I loved how the sun was hitting the front arch in this space on the Esplanade.

The Silence of Snow and Ice

This image was taken in a park in Lethbridge, Alberta on a Sunday morning in my recent trip out west. The trees were covered in a frost from a combination of fog and very low temperatures. There was no wind, and the sky was softly overcast. The silence was lovely.

Back to Banff

I have just returned from a two week work trip in Alberta, and I did have one weekend for photography, so it was up to Banff on Saturday. The day was brilliant, clear and cold.

Fellow Photographer

I had a fun portrait session this past Saturday with fellow Toronto-area photographer Philip Elliot. There is just something about shooting portraits with a Rolleiflex, and the square format. (Film used was Kodak Tri-X, developed in Xtol 1+1 for 9 minutes @ 20 C)

Natalia By the Tree

This is the second post featuring an image from my shoot with Natalia Nix last week. I am surprised this one turned out; the light made it hard to see in the viewfinder of my Rolleiflex and it was so humid I was literally sweating into the viewfinder. Even though the original scene was very dull, I went with a high key look on the final version of the shot, taken on Tri-X.

Early Evening Light

The Light in the Princes Street Garden at around 7 pm in June is lovely; the low angle of the sun makes for some great shadows!
