Avoiding Present Day Reality
This hand-tinted cyanotype shows a bridge spanning Taylor Creek Park here in Toronto, taken with a fisheye lens.
I wanted the colours in this print to be a mixture of “wrong/surreal” mixed with a faded vintage look. I guess I am still reacting to the problems of present day reality.

Tinted Wheel
A tinted cyanotype print of a wheel that is part of an old device I saw in an agricultural museum. This is my second attempt at hand-tinting the image. The first one failed; the paint was too thick. I used much more thinned down watercolour this time around.
Working With an Accident
This hand-tinted cyanotype began as an iPhone photograph of the centre of a bowl/plate that someone left out on their lawn. But when I made the digital negative to make the cyanotype contact print I forgot to invert it, so the negative was a positive.
I decided to go with it, and tired hand-tinting the “negative” cyanotype with watercolour pigments. Here is the results.
Note: instead of just scanning the print, I just took a photo of the entire thing.

Another hand-tinted cyanotype of rusted streetcars at the Halton Rail Museum. Again, watercolours were used.

This print of a derelict street car at the Halton Rail Musuem started off as a standard cyanotype, but I decided to explore adding colour via watercolour. I like the results!

Old and New
This image combines 21st century digital editing techniques (NO AI!) to combine various images into an imaginary scene, then printed as a cyanotype, a process dating back to 1841.
A Different Tone
Another Cyanotype print, btu this time I used the toning technique by soaking in a very strong instant coffee solution to get more of a blue/black tonality.
