There hasn’t been a lot of rain recently in East York, Ontario, until the last few days. But this past Sunday was different. Rain overnight, plus some drizzle in the morning made for some interesting droplets. I shot with my iPhone 13, as it is pretty resistant to moisture.
I took this image earlier this year on a grey day in the Beaches in Toronto. The lines in the fence reminded me of the COVID disease graphs that have become part of our reality since 2022.
A couple of weeks ago we had a very warm sunny Sunday, (at least by the standards of Toronto in March). That mean a lot of melting snow and ice, and reflections in the sunlight.
Last Sunday was a gloomy, foggy day by the shores of Lake Ontario in Toronto, but I was still happy with some images I got with my Hasselblad.
At the Beaches yesterday, seeing this scene (with some contrast added in post) resonated with me, in the context of all that is going on.

In yesterday’s post I featured images created using long discontinued Kodak Technical Pan. Thankfully, there is a worthy successor still being made today: Rollei ATP 1.1. This is another slow speed film with extremely fine grain and sharpness, but also requiring special handling in development. This first roll was developed using Rollei RLC Low contrast developer, which does a great job, but is not cheap. I have more of this film coming, and I will test one roll using Rodinal, a much less expensive developer, to see if I can get comparable results.

The great thing about wide angle lenses is there ability to be handheld at slower shutter speeds, like the 1/15th of a second used for this image taken recently in the Beaches.

There are a few of these bicycle/flower combos on Queen Street in the Beaches: an ad for a local business. In colour they are a cheery yellow, but I like the look of black and white on a cloudy day.
