When I was in Whistler last week I did not bring a tripod, so when I saw the night scene from my hotel window I had to improvise. A side table, and a couple of books were pressed into service as a makeshift tripod, and luckily I did have my cable release with me, so I was able to complete the 45 second exposure with little or no camera shake. Shooting through the window did make for some weird reflections though.

The first of likely a few posts from Whistler (once I develop my film this weekend). I was at a meeting this past week in Whistler, B.C. Â I had an amazing view from my hotel window, and took more than a couple of images at various times of today in various lighting conditions. Winter light to my eyes often has a pewter-like tone, like it did when I took this image.
