The World of a Child # 2

Another image from my shoot last Saturday. This image was taken with my Nikon F4S and the Nikkor 105mm/2.5 lens, which is one of the greatest portrait lenses of all time.

The World of a Child

As I have said before, I don’t often get to create portraits of children, but this past weekend I had the chance to do so with the daughter of a friend in Calgary. My eight year old subject was engaging and enthusiastic, allowing me into her world, and certainly had an interest in the old camera I was using.

Different Light

The last time I had the chance to shoot the Peace Bridge in Calgary it was a grey, drizzly day. Last Sunday morning I lucked out and the low-angled late fall sun made for some great lighting.

Framed

I love images that have interior frames. This image is from the Chinese Garden in Vancouver. It was not a bright afternoon and I did not have a tripod with me to get the smaller aperture/slower shutter speed and larger depth of field I would have preferred for the colour film shot. I took the black and white retro-styled image with my iPhone and the Hipstamatic app.
