The Only Cafe Portrait Series #3 (Jeff)

Today the third portrait in this ongoing project. It was fun chasing the best light around the table for this portrait; I asked Jeff to sit in three different chairs, and the light was definitely the best where he was sitting for this image.

The Smile of a Child

I don’t often get the chance to photograph children, so I was very happy with how this portrait of a friend’s son turned out. (Posted with permission).

Summer Shoot

Last Friday was an extremely warm day, but still a good day for a shoot with my friend Natalia! Hasselblad 500CM, 80mm and 250mm lenses, Utrafine Extreme 400 and Kodak TMax 400 films

Hard Shadows

Normally, bright sun and hard shadows are the last thing you want for a portrait, but this time around it worked. 🙂

Portrait of a Friend

I was happy to get together with my good friend Ken last Saturday. We met up at The Only Cafe of course. Fairly dimly lit, so I ratcheted up the ISO on the Sony A7ii to 6400. Impressed with the lack of noise! The lens was an old Nikkor 50mm f1.4, mounted via adapter and shot wide open. Quite happy with this image!

Shooting Film on January 1st

Every year on January 1st I go out in the morning with a film camera, so whatever else happens in the year it will still be another year in which I shot film. One of my goals this year is to shoot more portraits, so from the roll I shot yesterday I am choosing a portrait of fellow film photographer Alan Gaunt, who came along with me and Bill Smith for the January 1st outing.
