Stubbornness

Another post anthropomorphizing trees and the changing seasons. While some trees have changed colours, others are still stubbornly staying green as long as possible.

Resignation

In my first fall colours post yesterday I used the word “defiance” describing the bright leaves still on the tree. The three images today are more about the leaves that have already fallen, covering the ground in colour, but dead and resigned. All three images created with my Hasselblad 500C/M and 50mm/4 Distagon lens, using Kodak Ektar 100 film.

Light and Metal

I liked the stark morning light on this railing in High Park yesterday morning.

A Reaction

Sometimes an image surprises me. Last Saturday afternoon before a concert I had a little while after the rehearsal to wander around with my Hasselblad. I didn’t finish the roll until earlier today (a couple of attempts at self-portraits: the less said the better). I don’t even remember taking this image but the darkness of the forest in this image really struck me; is the shard of sunlight coming through enough to overcome it? It’s funny when an image hits close to home.

Early Morning Light

One more from TodMorden Mills: the sun was just beginning to show through the trees, and was lighting up the railing in an interesting way.

Overgrown Fence

Another image from Todmorden Mills in Toronto. I love how this overgrown fence blends in with the trees and plants

Inside a SunDial

Early morning at Todmorden Mills in Toronto, the sun coming over the trees, creating a complicated light. I was there for about an hour, watching the light progress across the location, like a large sundial.

Tilting, Looming

I liked the look of this old utility pole in Kensington Market in Toronto, as it loomed over the street, with the angle of the camera exaggerating its tilt.
