Through a Pinhole #2: In Colour

My exploration of pinhole photography continues. This time I put a roll film adapter on the back of my Speed Graphic 4×5 and shot in colour using Kodak Portra 400 film. The subject is the bridge which spans Taylor Creek Park. Exposures were about 1 minute long.

Toronto Harbor Commisson

On Saturday morning the light was bright and sunny, and my eye was caught by the Toronto Harbor Commission building. I like the way the sun was hitting this proud old building, surrounded by modern steel and glass.

The Kayak

One last image from my trip to the icy shores of Lake Ontario last Sunday. At one point I noticed a brave kayaker paddling along the shore, so I scrambled to the best location I could get, put down the camera/tripod, composed the image, and waited for the kayak to come into the frame.

The Sound of Ice

One more of the Ice in the beaches yesterday. One of the most interesting things was the sound the water made hitting the ice covered rocks. A very distinctive sound!

Ice

It was a beautiful, dazzling and cold morning today by the shores of Lake Ontario in the Toronto Beaches. If it gets cold enough, the ice is always interesting here.

Night Visions

One of my goals for 2017 is to do more night photography so last night I went with my good friend Bill Smith down to the Beaches to try shooting a test roll of Rollei RPX100, to determine the best exposure. My favourite image is this one, shot with my Hasselblad 500C/M and 50mm/4 Distagon lens. The exposure time was 15 seconds @ f8.
