It was an intense week at work here in Calgary, to put it mildly. Since I am staying over and working again here next week, my original plan this morning was to go to downtown Calgary and do some street / architecture photography. At the last minute I changed my mind and went for a return visit to Fish Creek Provincial Park, and that was the right decision: a beautiful morning in a quiet park, the only sounds being the birds and the flowing water. Yes I took some photos (Hipstamatic here, film to follow when I get back home) but that didn’t seem to be the point this morning. Relaxing and decompressing was.
I am out in Calgary again this week, and am shooting some film photography but of course without access to my darkroom it’s hard to post those images just yet, so I am trying to keep the daily posting discipline going with some smartphone/Hipstamatic images, such as today’s image taken outside my Calgary office early on a bright sunny day.
I love images that have interior frames. This image is from the Chinese Garden in Vancouver. It was not a bright afternoon and I did not have a tripod with me to get the smaller aperture/slower shutter speed and larger depth of field I would have preferred for the colour film shot. I took the black and white retro-styled image with my iPhone and the Hipstamatic app.
