In High Park

There are certain spots I am drawn to repeatedly, and this location in High Park is one of them, especially off-season before plants have really started growing again.

Old Wheel

It was hard getting a good angle on this wheel at Riverdale farm with a fence in the way but I found some space.

Hiding In Plain Sight

I have to admit the symbolism in this image (taken in High Park this past weekend) came to me after the fact. The solitary figure, head in hands, is easy to miss. How many people suffering from depression or other challenges do we overlook?

Tree Light

It was a beautiful spring day at High Park in Toronto yesterday, and there is one spot where the combination of the species of tree and the angle of the morning sun made for some great light.

Stories and Memories

I had the pleasure of hanging out with my good friend Ken Bole last weekend, in his “basement bar” which contains his extensive and eclectic collection of objects, souvenirs and books. What I found fascinating about the collection was that each object represented a story and a memory, and to me at least the stories and memories are what are truly memorable. The objects themselves are receipts in a sense; evidence of a life richly led.

Detail

One more railway themed image: a detail of graffiti on the derelict track.

Around the Bend

One more on the theme of unused rail; this one is about a kilometre from the the railway bridge featured in a couple of recent posts.

Another View of the Railway Bridge

Here is another view of the railway bridge on the old CP line in the lower Don Valley, taken yesterday. I will definitely have to go back with colour film in the near future!
