Into the Sun

Another image from my first roll shot in the Voigtlander Bessa 66 medium format folder. On Sunday morning the best views of Philosopher’s Walk on the U of T campus seemed to be straight into the sun, which usually results in a lot of flare. I placed the sun behind a tree branch to try to minimize it, and I do like the results.

Sharp Shadows

This past Sunday was a glorious winter day: bright and clear, with a dazzling crystal light: like being inside the diamond. Β The sharp lines and shadows that would have made an outdoor portrait session very difficult made other kinds of images possible.

This was the first time I had shot on the Voigtlander Bessa 66Β 120 format folding camera, given to me by my friend David Kent. This model has the amazing Color Skopar lens, and I am very impressed with its sharpness.

A Spot of Life

Back to the Wreck Beach in Vancouver for this one. When I posted this image in a Facebook group, I got a comment back that the bird in the middle seemed like a “spot of life.” Seems like a good title to me πŸ™‚

Same Chairs, Different Season

There are a number of these sets of chairs at the Toronto Beaches, and I have featured them a couple of times in the past. This is how they caught my eye in the winter.

Winter Dock

On Saturday I took my Mamiya RZ67 down to the Beaches. It was a very still, very grey day, and sometimes it was hard to see where the water ended and the sky began.

The Stark Sun

This post is a series of images taken in Toronto a couple of weeks back in the mid-late afternoon. I love the sun when it is at a low angle; it imposes a sense of drama on downtown buildings. All images taken with my Rolleiflex 3.5E3 on Ilford HP5+ film, developed in LegacyPro MicX developer.

Stones

Another image from Wreck Beach. There are many sections of the Beach which are covered in large rocks. I felt any any moment I would trip and fall, resulting in a broken ankle and/or smashed camera. Luckily neither happened πŸ™‚
