On the Jacobite Train

This image was taken on the Jacobite train in Scotland. Even with the tremendous depth of field of the 15mm lens I knew not everything would be perfectly in focus but it wasn’t far off!

An Edinburgh Album

Our first day in Edinburgh was windy and rainy, and the weather changed every five minutes during the second day but that wasn’t going to stop us! These images were created with my Voigtlander R 35mm rangefinder, with the Super Wide Heliar 15mm/4.5 mounted, loaded with Kentmere 400 film.

Calton Hill

On our first day in Edinburgh (rather rainy and windy most of the time) one of the places we went was Calton Hill Park: an interesting location containing an offbeat collection of structures. This Greek-inspired structure caught my eye.

Fascinating Tree

This tree is found in High Park, Toronto, and I’ve always found it most interesting. I like the way it is captured by an ultra-wide lens.

In the Art Gallery

A couple of weeks ago I was in the Art Gallery of Ontario to see a couple of exhibitions, and I had a camera with me. The second floor is a bright, warm and fascinating space, and the day was perfect to capture it with some colour film.

On the Cusp of Spring

Today’s image is from a week ago, when it was not quite as springlike as it has been this weekend. The trees in High Park were still bare, and there was more texture than colour. so perfect for black and white, especially a sharp contrasty film like Rollei Retro 80s.

By the Beach

This image is from about a week ago, at the Beaches. I shot this with my Voigtlander Bessa R body and Leica 90mm/4 Elmar lens, a short telephoto that I should really use more!

New Work

With my show now up on the wall, I actually have some time for new work! I finished off a roll yesterday on my Voigtlander Bessa L camera with the Voigtlander 15mm/4.5 lens. I love the dramatic perspective of this lens!

The Bridge Revisited

I love this bridge on Queen Street a bit west of Broadview Avenue in Toronto, and the 15mm lens suits it.

Revisiting the Cemetery

I’ve been to the St. James Cemetery in Toronto a few times to shoot, and I went again this past Saturday. It was a dull day, but the combination of EDU 400 film (from The Film Photography Project) and TMax developer brought out some nice light.
