Wide Angle and Slide Film

The light in Toronto this January has not been dazzling; even this mainly overcast day was brighter than most. The location is the vintage train yard beside the Steamwhistle Brewing Company location in Toronto.

The Arch

I had never gotten around to shooting this arch before; I will have to go back and try a few different angles with it. I suspect the perfect angle would involve me standing the the middle of a busy intersection. Not safe in this city.

Testing My New F4

My new (to me) Nikon F4 body arrived this week, so I now have one to replace the one that was stolen. I went out yesterday, despite the gloomy light to shoot a test roll. I did’t have any 400 speed film so I shot a roll of Svema Foto 100, which made for some very slow shutter speeds handheld, but thankfully wide-angle lenses such as the Tamron SP 17mm/3.5 I was shooting are more forgiving. 🙂

Picking Up Slide Film

On another dreary winter day in Toronto, with a dull light that just sucks the enthusiasm right out of me, it was nice to pick up a roll of colour slide film that I had sent in for processing.

Back to the Plant #3

One final image from this series of the W.H. Harris Water Treatment Plant. The grey dull day seemed to align with the austere nature of the building.

Back to the Plant

I have shot the R.H. Harris Water Treatment Plant in Toronto a few times, but never with the Tamron SP superwide 17mm/3.5 lens so out I went last weekend. The very grey, flat lighting gave an interesting look to a very interesting building.

Family

Another image from a foggy day at the Beaches on Saturday. I was struck by this scene of a family in the distance looking out at the fog.

Winter Fog

Yesterday was a foggy day at the Beaches. I was shooting with my  Nikon N90s and Nikkor 105mm/2.5 (replacing the one that was stolen). The film was an old expired roll of Ultrafine Xtreme 400 I had lying around and the result was grainier than I would have liked, but perhaps for the fog the effect works.
