Storefront Reflections
I went downtown here in Toronto early yesterday morning; it was on the chilly side. This image of a storefront on Yonge street, filled with reflections as well turned out to be my favourite. I like the double exposure feel.
The Only Cafe Portrait Project: Frank Eberdt
Recently I had the pleasure of meeting up with photographer Frank Eberdt at the Only Cafe for my ongoing portrait project.
As always for this project I used my Sony a7ii body, and Helios 44 58mm f/2 lens.
Some Telephoto Work
It is easy to get in a rut, and my happy place always seems to be wide-angle and normal lenses. So I am going to try working telephoto lenses more into the mix.
This morning I was back at the Toronto Beaches, with my Sony a7ii body, and my Pentax Takumar 135mm f/3.5. A lovely, smooth and compact lens!
A Peterborough Weekend
Last weekend I had a great time with photography friends in Peterborough, Ontario, so the net few posts will be pictures from that weekend.
I used my Sony a6100 body and 7Artisans 10mm f/3.5 lens for these images.
Contemplation
A few days ago I was at the Beaches very early, just around the beginning of sunrise, and saw this solitary soul contemplating the waters of Lake Ontario.
Another Image Using the Slit Filter
This may be may favourite image so far using the technique of covering the lens except for on narrow slit (vertically in this case). To me it feels impressionist. The lens was an old Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 on my Sony a7ii, via adapter.
Only Cafe Portrait Series: Rob Campbell
It seems there is always room for another image in this long term project. This morning it was Rob Campbell’s turn.
As always the camera was my Sony a7ii, and the lens my 60 year-old Helios 44/2 58mm f/2.
A Different Look
I was in High Park (Toronto) yesterday morning, using a photographic technique involving setting up two pieces of black cardboard in front of the lens, leaving a small slit in-between them. The result (depending on the distance between the subject and background of the image) can be a crazy bokeh effect. I’ll be exploring this more!
Camera was my Sony a7ii with an Olympus MD 50 mm f/1.4 lens, with the aforementioned slit in front.
Angles and Contrasts
I was out with photography friends in the Liberty Village area in Toronto yesterday morning. The brilliant sunshine and cler skies made for a great opportunity for my favourite style of black and white, iwth a lot of dramatic contrasts.
All images were created with my Sony a6100 and 7Artisans 10mm f/3.5 lens.
