Revisiting a Negative

This image from an early winter morning at the shores of Lake Ontario in February 2014 is from a roll I scanned with my older scanner; I was not happy with how they looked, but recently I rescanned with my new scanner. Much happier now πŸ™‚

Last Dance

I was going to call this post “Break-up Sex” but that was too much like click-bait. In order to finance getting a Hasselblad kit, I am thinning the herd and one of the kits being moved was was Mamiya Pro TL 645. I took it out for one last time on Sunday and shot a couple of rolls, and now it is sold and gone. Mixed emotions but I want that Hasselblad!

Colour Riot

I’ve mentioned before that black and white is my photographic mother tongue, but it is fun to go on a colour riot from time to time. This is a detail of multiple layers of graffiti, in Toronto’s Bloor and Keele area.

Curved Bench

I like this bench (at a Park near the Beaches). At some point I will need to go back with a view camera and stop right down to get it all sharp.

Winter Sun

There is something about winter sun in Toronto (other than the fact we don’t get a lot of it). I love its brightness and clarity. I also love the way Rollei RXP 25 film picks it up. This image is from a couple of weeks ago, taken near the Beaches with my Rolleiflex 3.5E3.

Early Music

My wife Janice belongs to the early music ensemble Sine Nomine, and last night they put on a concert of 14th century music at St. Thomas’ Church in Toronto. I had a chance to take a couple of images with the Hipstamatic: one of some of the instruments used, and the other of the Bapistry at the back of the church.

Facade

There is an interesting structure on the Ryerson campus in Toronto: a green house, hiding behind the facade of a muhc older building. I will definitely need to go back and shoot some more when I have more time.

Homage

I had the pleasure of working with friend and frequent creative collaborator Jennifer Bettencourt this past weekend. In addition to being a talented model, Jennifer is also an accomplished fadista, or singer of Portuguese Fado music. The shoot was inspired by Fado legend AmΓ‘lia Rodrigues, a we were going for a fairly formal look, with some intensity.

My Friend, Again

Different camera, different pose and different lighting. Same friend at Podcamp 2016 this past weekend. πŸ™‚ (Sylvain)
