Flowers on a Bike

There are a few of these bicycle/flower combos on Queen Street in the Beaches: an ad for a local business. In colour they are a cheery yellow, but I like the look of black and white on a cloudy day.

  1. Sometimes the medium is indeed the message, or at least an integral part of it. This choice of subject matter invokes a deep feeling of nostalgia. The choice of the medium, film, black and white at that, and of the camera, vintage, are just as meaningful in achieving your goad here as the subject you have chosen. Sort of like listening to Who’s Next on vinyl as opposed to CD. Well done.
